FTTC Fill In Plans

My cabinet (No 50 in Welwyn Garden City) wasn't upgraded as part of BT's 66% phase as it was deemed not commercially viable.  When Openreach were still prepared to respond to e-mails from the general public they advised me that the situation would be reviewed during 2014.  Is there any way that Plusnet can find out if this review has taken place and what the result was?  I keep trying the availability checker but there must be a way of finding out if it is worth while waiting, or should I just jump ship now and sign up with Virgin?

Re: FTTC Fill In Plans

We pretty much use the same tools as you do to check for updates when it comes to roll out plans. ISP's don't get any extra information as to what or when cabinet are in plans.
I know that http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/where-and-when/ is quite handy, especially when you head over to http://www.superfast-openreach.co.uk/rural-broadband/ and if you select your specific area you might find more information about FTTC possibly coming to your area.
We use this site, along with the BT Availability Checker.

Re: FTTC Fill In Plans

Thanks Chris.
Those links don't add anything new unfortunately.  My exchange is already FTTC enabled and Superfast for Herts say they wont cover my cabinet as BT were active in the area when they applied for funding.  I suspect its more to do with the fact that Virgin Media already provide cable coverage. They may have additional funding for 2016/2017 which could enable them to do something then.  I'd hate to switch to Virgin but 3Mbps is a bit limiting these days.  I guess I'll keep trying the availability checker until the end of the year as I'm tied to my BT phone line until then.

I use this http://dslchecker.bt.com/adsl/ADSLChecker.AddressOutput to keep an eye on my cabinet, as it gives you cabinet specific info rather than exchange. If the review results in a cabinet upgrade it should show up in here as for as I'm aware.

Thanks jrilton.  It gives the same results as the phone number checker. Cry
