FTP intermittently timing out

Hi,
wonder if anyone can shed some light. When uploading some files using FTP it often times out. Even when I'm pushing a file as little as 2kb.
Rebooting the router/connection seems to sort it but after a short while it does it again. Bit of a pain to have to keep disabling/enabling things every time I need to upload a file!
Is there anything I can do?

Does this happen to multiple FTP servers? Have you tried a different FTP client or does switching betwen active and passive mode make any difference?

I used to have this problem, then I found FTP COMMANDER..... download it, then you should be able to drag and drop all your files and they all go in one shot !....
