FEC Errors

Hi there,
I was just browsing through my router's (ADSL TG582n) set up pages and noticed on the connection page some huge numbers.  I wondered if someone could explain whether this is bad.  Assuming these counters get reset when the router is rebooted it appears I have had 599 million FEC errors in 24 days.  Is that normal?
Any information about FEC errors (or any of these errors) would be appreciated.

Re: FEC Errors

I wouldn't worry about the number of FEC errors shown there. FEC (Forward Error Correction) errors reflect transmissions that interleaving has been able to fix, so the end result is *not* an error. Large numbers seem to be a 'feature' of Thomson routers, especially on phone lines which have seen better days.
For reference my current stats show a larger number in a similar uptime.
