Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

The other thing I have noticed ,that could point to a problem with equipment in the exchange is that when these increases in errors happen  my interleaved  depth alters from 32 to 16 on the Downstream , see graph for interleaving and a new error graph shown them threw the night and dropping again,

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

I have just caused a resync  Angry looking at my router stats and clicked save which caused a reboot , but that has now increased my interleaved depth to 32 again till tonight when I loose sync around 7.50pm ish again because of what ever is causing the tremendous rise in  errors

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

As these errors rise the streetlight that is next to my DP for my line comes on as it is under a canopy of trees, the rest of the lights on the road then follow .
My snr has dropped to 3.4 and the errors have shot up to 150,000 plus, now 175,000 errors ,lights are on full and errors have jumped to 380,000 and started to drop (time 19.49)

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

Rather strengthens the suspicion that the street lights are messing with your broadband.
Need to see that fault ticket progressed ... though that might be difficult with your other in-flight orders on the line!  Undecided

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

Chris,
Do you have matching synch speed please?
SNRM over a resynch without the synch rate plot misses vital information.
There is not much more you can do here until CRT pick up your case.

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

Got up early to monitor  my stats as the street lights turned of , FEC errors running at around 750000 on the graph and as the lights opposite  our house turned off at 6.15am  the FEC errors rose to 1500000, the street light that's near our drop point was still lit , there was a very slow decline in errors as the snr started to rise again and at 6.45 the light next to the DP went out and the errors were now at 202,
I have included 2 more graphs ,1st threw the night and 2nd the hour for the lights turning off
I hope this now gets picked up by the Plusnet staff and possibly get an engineer to check my wiring
There only 5 houses on this drop point that is fastened to one of the house walls, all 5 have telephone services with only 3 having broadband (  1 is mine ) , the neighbour I speak to has not noticed any problem with his broadband, but there again it's not used much and he dose not monitor it ,the other neighbour I don't really speak to but they have had an engineer visit for problems a couple of months ago
Thanks

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

Chris,
A stunning piece of investigation and analysis.  Be prepared for this to take a while to be investigated by BTOR.  Your line needs to be checked out for increased susceptibility to REIN, only there after might a REIN investigation be carried out.  BTOR seem to have put more restrictions on how and when they will deploy REIN engineers.
You should take a portable AM radio tuned to 615kHz (or there about) to the light to confirm that it is responsible.  Given my recent experience with BTOR, it would be well worth your while reporting to the local council highways department that it would appear that the light is interfering with telecommunication services - which is illegal!  Lay it on thick.  Wink

Re: FEC CRC and ES errors

Thanks  Kevin , would not really have possible if I had not used MDWS to monitor  my line , I will be phoneing  the council this morning to try and speak to some one about it .
I Googled how to kill a streetlight, it  came up with a few things but nothing permanent  Grin
