Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

I have an issue where if I try to watch youtube videos in high quality they're being limited to just under the required bandwidth required so they play for only a second or two before buffering.
However don't know if this is an issue with the Premier 1 traffic shaping model though because I get line speed just before 4pm, but after it's unmatchable. So maybe this is an issue here, but it might not be.
Thanks.
Edit: On second thoughts I think this really doesn't belong here, if it could be split into a separate topic that'd be great.

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

Interesting that you mention that, as I was using YouTube less than an hour ago and thought that videos were downloading extremely slowly - I was watching a standard-quality stream and the downloading was just about fast enough to keep up with the video. YouTube should see full speed at all times of the day as it's streaming... so don't know who's to blame there.

Yes, I have a problem with youtube videos in HQ too, even late at night. The picture tends to freeze regularly or go into slide show mode...

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

Just to add that I am having problems watching YouTube videos on standard quality streams too (not just High Quality), which is a little bit frustrating. Is there any chance that something can be done about it, as several of us are experiencing the same problem? If it is PN related, that is... Thanks!

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

Thanks for the help so far, we now have sigs for iPlayer, SkyPlayer, ITVPlayer and 4oD. I have a beta sig for Demand Five too at the moment. Would appreciate if anyone could spare a few minutes to run a wireshark capture or two for Demand Five so I can see if the sig is matching up please.

Yes please, if you can make sure the capture starts capturing before starting the video that would be appreciated. I want to check if the capture will match my signature so need the beginning of the stream, you can stop it after a few seconds.

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

I don't know if this is at all relevant but on Demand 5 the transmitted program is preceded by and interspersed with commercials.  For the last few weeks I have had great difficulties with the commercials which tend to freeze and stutter, but the program itself plays fine.

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

I presumed it was Channel 5's fault but I wondered if this poor performance would interfere with any sort of test - unless the test went on long enough for the actual program to start.

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

That is why I have sent two wiresharks to Dave - one during the ads and one during the program otherwise the file size gets too big
