FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

Hi all,
I'm crossing my fingers that iPlayer is fixed now, so assuming we don't see any more problems, I'm thinking it's time to move on and ensure we are correctly tagging the other UK broadcasters streaming TV services. So I'm planning on starting off with SkyPlayer with them showing the cricket live online it makes a good time to ensure it's right.
So I'm looking for a few people to do me a bit of testing please, if you have Sky can you run me a couple of wireshark captures of SkyPlayer's live TV stream. Just need a capture of the first few seconds of the video but make sure you start the capture before starting to play the stream.
Next on the list will be ITVPlayer so any captures of that would also be useful.

Sadly can't do that, but an ITVPlayer capture will do instead Smiley

Thanks, for the benefit of anyone else not on IRC, if anyone else runs any captures can you email them to me at dtomlinson@plus.net and I'll see if they match the sigs I've got so far.

This might give me an excuse to give that new Charlie Brooker programme a go on 4oD. Though I really need to work on my portfolio so I'm not sure I'll do it any time soon. Sad

Re: FAO Wiresharkers - Wiresharking help wanted

No worries, in most cases to create a signature for a particular application we need the beginning of the flow of the traffic (not all, sometimes you'll find it gets matched further along in the stream). The first few packets will contain an exchange of information about what the application is or certain "key" pieces of information (as well as the port and source IP address) that we use to match the traffic. So with something like a video stream the match actually needs to be done at the start of the stream rather than further down otherwise if it's marking it as unknown at the start the video might start stuttering to begin with.
ITVPlayer and SkyPlayer sigs are now live though and getting hits, ITV peaked at 25Mbps between 10pm and 11pm last night, Sky did about 150Mbps around midday yesterday. If you're using one of these apps your usage should now show up as Streaming in VMBU, previously would've been Web.
Next on my list is 4oD and from there anyone else have suggestions for streaming apps?
