Extremely slow internet speed and disconnections, please help.

Hello there, we've been having problems with our connection speed and disconnections for the past week now, we've tried all the tips you have recommended, we've phoned the tech support and did the usual checks like connecting to the test socket in the wall, they even check the internal lines and they can't seem to find any faults, we've also had a new Technicolour router sent to us.

Only one question, as I assume that you have tried different filters and cables from the socket to the router, is whether, when the front plate is removed from the master socket all the other sockets in the property are dead.
I have assumed that you don't have a monitored alarm

There are only 2 sockets in the house, only the main one that we use is active.

Yeah, there's no monitored alarm either.

When you say only one is active do you mean that you only use one or that the other one doesn't work at all.
When you connected to the test socket were there any wires connected to the lower removable faceplate

The other socket doesn't work at all, when we joined Plusnet, BT only reconnected the main socket. No, there's no wires connected to the faceplate.

What were BT doing when you joined Plusnet as it isn't usual for them to get involved unless it was a completely new line

Before we joined Plusnet, the BT line wasn't active, they came round to re-enable it.

Re: Extremely slow internet speed and disconnections, please help.

It looks as though your line is chronically banded, this happens if the DLM registers a large amount of drops on your line.
If you have connected an alternative microfilter and your router into your Test Socket if you have one, I would certainly look at raising a fault at http://faults.plus.net as it's something we really need to take a look at for you.
Please let us know if there is anything further we can do to help in the meantime.

Don't know if this helps but sn margin on down should be lower than 12 db or too much noise on line. Bt engineer told me.
