Extremely Slow Broadband - 45Kbps

Hi
Im a new plusnet customer. I had activated my plusnet broadband on 14th of September. The broadband was very slow right from the beginning barring one morning when I experienced good speed(I did not measure it hence cannot quantify it). I did this test today as I wanted to wait for the initial 10 days for the speeds to be stabilised.
Attached is the BT Speedtest reports. Test 1 is the test with Plusnet ADSL username and Test 2 is with the BT speedtest provided username. As you can notice I have received considerably better speed with BT speedtest username.

First thing - the BT speedtest is very flakey at the moment and you can't necessarily believe the quoted IP profile or indeed any of the information in it
The Plusnet mirror of the IP profile is showing 250kbps and may need to be increased as that is certainly crippling your speed
While waiting for a member of staff to advise the actual IP profile there are a number of things which need to be checked.
Are you aware of a low speed sync in the recent past or a lot of disconnections in a short time
Did anyone plug in an unfiltered device even for a few minutes
Do you have a Sky box connected to the phone line and are you sure it is filtered

Thanks Oldjim for your quick response.
The speed was slow from the first day except for a few hours one morning! I had my modem directly connected to the test socket for the last 8 days when I noticed that the speed was slow on the first day (I really do not use my phone  ::)). I switched to the extension just  2 days back. Yes the Sky box and the phone was on the extension the first day and yesterday when I switched over from the test socke. I disconnected them from socket yesterday.
Hope this gets resolved quickly.. fingers crossed.

If you hold that sync for another day or so your IP profile should increase and the Plusnet value will follow.

Is it BT or plusnet going to change the IP Profile? Should I raise a ticket on plusnet?
On the plusnet site line speed is shown as

Just did a test on speedtest.net. The results look pathetic. Not sure this can be classified as broadband  Cry

BT fix the IP profile and Plusnet just follow it
It would be worth raising a ticket (or phone) asking them to check that their number matches the IP profile

I had called up plusnet support yesterday. They noticed some disconnections on the line and adviced me to leave the router connected to the test socket for 24 hours for observation.
I need to call them tonight to check the results.
Checked speedtest.net today too from the test socket. The results are the same.

I have just matched BT & PN profile to 4500 so you should see a big increase shortly.

I need to setup the wireless on my router/ASDL modem. This could include a bit of reboots to get it working. Worried if this will reset the speed back to dinosaur era..

You shouldn't need to reboot the router to connect the wireless.

Hi Jojo
I need to change the wireless settings on the router/ASDL modem.. Both my and my wifes laptops are refusing to connect to the wireless router. Last time I tried, it took around 3 -4 reboots of the router with various SSIDs to get it working.
Shall I disconnect the router/ASDL modem from the phone line to setup the wireless network? Will disconnecting it slow down my broadband profile?

what router are you using? Setting up wireless should be far easier than that.

Just tried speedtest.net. Show a small improvement in download speed from .13Mbps to .23 Mbps.
Should I reboot the router for the updated profile to be applied?
