Recently changed from BBYW PRO to Extra with pro added.
Gives 3x the gb @ 60gb per month against 20 gb when I was on BBYW pro.
Can someone advise please .
Is Extra pro slowed down at busy times ??.
From what I recall BBYW pro was not.
Since changed to extra pro P2P seems fairly slow during evenings .
Is there a package on Plusnet that does not get slowed down.
Baz

If you use the above tool you can compare the differences between your old product and your new product and it will also show you what traffic is prioritised in what way at certain times.
I hope this helps

Hi Chris.
Many thanks for the reply.
I did check the link you posted and compared the 2 packages side by side some week back before changing .
Looked at the time a good deal to change over to Extra with pro but does seems a fair bit slower than my
old BBYW pro.
Extra with pro says line speed and platinum.
So is Extra with pro slowed down @ busy times.
Extra looked better deal /cheaper/3 times the gb but please tell me on here .
IS Extra with pro slowed down @busy times.............................was BBYW pro always at line speed ??and not slowed.
Been with plusnet for over 7 years now but might be about to change ISP.
If BBYW Pro is the better package can I change back to it.
Many thanks.
Baz

See also BBYW Pro http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/products/archive/bbyw_archive.shtml para.10 Pro column and the remark underneath the table - "Gold Plated traffic (and some Gold Traffic) may be rate limited to prevent impact on interactive/Gold traffic at busy times."

Quote from: Anotherone Well my interpretation of the comparison is that more traffic is prioritised as Titanium on you new package, so less of it will be slowed if there is congestion.
Hi Anotherone.
Thanks for the link+reply.
See BBYW Pro is no longer available so will have to keep what I have at the mo.
Not convinced all sorted at plusnet correctly yet.
When I changed to Extra with pro to be added on switchover they forgot to add the Pro on
so had to phone to try and get it sorted.
Was told all was now as it should be but they only charged me for the Extra @£11 ..odd.
About the same time I was swicted over to ADSL+2 but since then speeds have not been as good as they were
when on BBYW Pro.
Will see how it goes for a while longer.
Thanks.

Quote from: Kelly I just looked at your account and you've got pro on. Your current package + Pro should be the same/better than BBYW pro. Bump if that isn't your experience.
Hi Kelly thanks for looking into that for me that pro has been added correctly.
My speed does slow down quite a bit if down loading with P2P between 7pm ish 10pm ish.
In original post just wondered if Extra with pro added was slowed down at certain times.
After a lot more reading on Plusnet it appears that it can be,so will live with it and see how
things go .
Was recently changed over to ADSL+2 which has not made any faster speeds for me at all.
Don't know if being on ADSL+2 can affect my Noise Margin but since switch Noise Margin
is a fair bit higher/now between 9 to 13.
Before switch to ADSL+2 it was a lot lower of around 5.
Most times synched at echange around 5300 kbps to 5700 kbps.
Best sych now is 4695,with speed tests of around 3800 kbps.
Did use to get around 4800 kbps down.
Thanks.

As far as the SNR and speed goes, ADSL2+ can be a little more sensitive. Maybe worth trying a different filter and plug straight into the test socket. If you do that I could drop your SNR and see how it holds up. As for the pro, I've just checked a few things, and as Kelly said you are definitely on pro. This shouldn't show any slowdowns. What is it you're doing when you see them?

Speed tests 7pm .....10pm ish down from 3800kbps ish to 2700kbps ish.
Trying p2p download also shows speed down from 4200 late on to 100.....200 kbps 7..pm to 10 pm ish
Tried filter change ,no test socket as such,1970 's matchbox connection inside door.
Thanks.Baz

I'm struggling for a solution to be honest. The fact that your speed drops as well is possibly a factor. Are the P2P speeds in Kbps or KBps? as the difference between the small and capital b is significant.
