As an aside, and apologies for taking this off-topic, the number of questions that 'die', even when the OP has said they will keep the forum advised of developments, is strange.

As another aside: Is it just me or is this forum now quieter than it has been for years? You can almost see the tumbleweed going by.

Either a lot of satisfied customers out there, or...

@pvmb In answer to your post - I have my suspicions bout this - some of which I may have posted elsewhere.

@Pauline_S I can see someone picked this up for you today and reset the SNR for you to see if it will help.

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

@willcutforth With respect, ''resetting the SNR' will not help - what is needed is an investigation into the OP's almost constant loss of DSL connection.

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

@willcutforth and reset the SNR for you to see if it will help.

I'm not sure how that's going to help!

Yes, the line was banded, but that's likely because its dropping so frequently!.

Removing the banding is just going to make the drops worse, surely?

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

Hi, noticed it went down about an hour ago, and when it came back on the speed has shot back up to 66.222 Mbps which is good, today has been nowhere near as bad as the last two days but i fear it won't last.

We've used the mesh system for well over a year now and never had any problems so i can't see that being the culprit all of a sudden.

Not knowing what the problem is is the worst part, if it happens again in the near future will the whole process just repeat itself? Can i keep the issue open to be monitored?

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

@Pauline_S Your speed has 'shot up' as they (PN) have removed the DLM-imposed cap (to try and minimise your DSL drops). You are quite correct, it won't last, as the DLM will pick up more errors, and you'll soon back on low speed and regular DSL drops.

The mesh is not the problem - whatever it is is somewhere in the Openreach network.

The problem is as I have noted above, yes it will keep on repeating itself until error is fixed, and your ticket, if that is how it is being monitored will close automatically after 14 days of the last entry. The way the drops showed over the last 3 or 4 days though, you'll be replying to that well before that time.

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

The 'problem' now may be that, due to the DLM reset, Openreach will insist its back in the 10 day training period and won't accept another fault call until that's expired!🙄

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

In other words, PN, maybe accidentally, is going to be prolonging the problem for the OP. Way to go!

@jab1 @MisterW  Hmm... you're not exactly filling me with confidence!  Laugh

No disconnects in 6 hours since the reset.

Sorry, @Pauline_S We are just speaking from many years of knowledge/experience, so although we hope it all goes well, I think I can also speak for @MisterW  when I say 'don't get your hopes up'. Sorry.

@Pauline_S As they are just giving you the run-around, my suggestion is that you raise this as an official complaint - instructions for  doing so are contained within https://www.plus.net/help/legal/complaints-code-of-practice/ .

Re: Experiencing frequent loss of fibre broadband

@Pauline_S can I just confirm if support have requested that you unclip the Mk4 faceplate on the master socket and connect to the test socket using a dsl filter ?

and has that been done ?
