Evening no broadband - throttled

Hi
after months of lovely stable broadband....
I have no broadband for the last 4 or 5 evenings.
During the day I get 5Mbps (lovely) but between
approx 6pm and 1am I get 100bps!!!!
Basically no Internet of an evening to browse of stream.
My current line speed is 7.15Mb and router 8128kbps sync.
Nothing obvious.
By speedtest results Mbps:

does anybody have an idea why downloads would be stuck to near 100kbps
during the evenings for the last few days?
I am a low user a few GBs per month so somewhat bemused.
Nothing has changed at home in relation to wiring or electronics.

HI Plantagenet,
On the surface of it, it sounds like a contention issue. If you can conduct some speed tests at http://speedtester.bt.com when it's good and then when it's bad and then raise a fault we can get it looked into further. In the meantime I will email BT and get the VP checked to see if this is the cause.

Thanks for the reply.
I have not opened a fault as Murphy's law goes all has been fine since I posted my message. 
All is back to normal, will continue to monitor but looks ok.
One of those things, perhaps it was contention especially being a long BH weekend.

HI Plantagenet,
It does look as though you are suffering some occasional peak time slow downs. The reply I received from the email is below...

BT Operate are investigating this VP and looking at ways of resolving the congestion issue.
A new report will be produced on 29th April  and a further update will be available upon request at this time.

I've been liaising with BT and have just had this email back...
