Estimated Line Speed profile

I wondered how often this is changed?

Phone exchange: CHIEVELEY

Estimated line speed: 1.0Mb

(This may vary between 0.75Mb and 2.5Mb) - Checked on 2016-03-25 17:07:46

Current line speed: 2.4 Mb

Since the check date I've been migrated to CN21 on 27/4, so estimated speed needs updating.

Will this happen automatically?

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

I don't think the estimated speed recorded really matters, unless perhaps you're arguing about a fault with Plusnet, and you say your broadband should be faster, and they look at the estimate. And then Plusnet would probably look at the current estimate from BTWholesale anyway.

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

The estimate on our site won't change unless you go through the product change journey, It has no impact on the real life speeds you're getting tbh it's better to check estimates at http://dslchecker.bt.com/

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

Your profile is correct on both the BT side and our side. Your line is in sync at 2779, so a profile of 2.45 is right (ours is 2400).

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

Chris, thanks 4 that.

Had wrongly assumed that the 1mb reported had been throttling my d/l speed:

Estimated line speed:1.0Mb

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

No problem. It's the 'current line speed' that shows what profile we currently have for you.

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

Estimated line speed:1.0Mb

Estimated speed should really only be used to set expectations at time of order.  Unfortunately it could also be used at a later date to try and excuse a reduction in speed.   Plusnet - do you have MSR and FTR recorded for this line?

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

Yes, this is set during the training period. On this line it's 2278.

Re: Estimated Line Speed profile

Is that MSR or FTR?

I should point out at although this figures should be set, that's not always the case.  Mine remained 2272/1817 which is the 20CN default for almost all my time at Plusnet, apart from a brief time at 288/288 then even briefer at 3424/2739 before returning to 2272/1817 for the remainder.

That's the FTR.
