Error 550

Hi everyone, this is my first post here so lets see how it goes.
I have my own domain and have been using the plus net smtp ( relay.plus.net) server for months with no problem. 
All of a sudden last night and this morning I get a 550 relay not permitted error when sending email.
So have plus net changed their smtp policy or settings ?

I had the same on a couple of mails being sent from the office today:

Only on a few mails, not all.
Could one of the comms guys check they've not got their chair on the network cable or something?

Yes it's the same for me, only some emails not all.
Well let's hope they move the chair soon

Thsi incident may be related to yesterday's (and still existing) email problem incident 45482:  "Outbound Email Authentication - We are currently investigating reports from customers who are having difficulties sending email via our relay servers. Customers of our Broadband Essential and Broadband Advanced accounts will receive username and password errors when attempting to send email."
The error 550 is usually caused by use of a non-PN IP address, because an IP address check is performed at PN's end to prevent the SMTP servers being used maliciously for relaying spam.

yeah, I did check service status - unfortunately I'm not on the BBE or BBA packages.
I've also checked the router to ensure that we still have our usual static IP - which we do (otherwise inbound mail would be broken as we use SMTP delivery to our own mail server)
Lets see what "the comms dudes" have in store for us

This morning, at 05:00 my router got the 550 error when trying to send its daily connection logs by e-mail via relay.plus.net.  I tried at 08:15 and it worked fine.
Clearly the router is connected on a PN IP address.

Seems ok at the moment - although it was intermittent.
I'll keep monitoring it and let you know if it reoccurs

Looks like it was an issue with one of the relay servers.  Should now have been resolved.
