Engineer just fitted fibre - will 15Mbps download speed improve?

Do I need to let things settle in before expecting the 79Mbps shown in my Plusnet email this morning confirming my "product change is now complete"?
(I tested using the BT Wholesale Performance Test).

Re: Engineer just fitted fibre - will 15Mbps download speed improve?

Hi SkylineUK,
Glad to see you're upgrading to Fibre! At the moment we are waiting for the order to reflect as complete as the engineer has very recently attended to complete the work. The speeds should improve once the order completes. You'll be on an open profile for the first 2 days so I'd advise to leave it for the next couple days and see how you get on.
Give us a shout if you think something's not quite right though Smiley

Keep watching for that figure to change.  Then restart the ROUTER (not the BT modem) or log into the router and drop and restart the PPP session.  Then do a new speed test.

Looks to me that your line profile needs to be reset as it hasn't been updated from when you were on ADSL...

Re: Engineer just fitted fibre - will 15Mbps download speed improve?

Well, it's been a couple of days now.
Download speed reached circa 50Mps after a few hours and is now 49 according to the PllusNet portal referred to above.  But it's around 40 (and 12 upload) according to two other online speed tests and 43/19 according to Ookla..  I rebooted the router tonight (pulled the mains lead out, counted 30 seconds and put it back in) but that hasn't changed anything.  What can be done to get anything near the purported available speed?
Another issue is that the PlusNet router conks out a couple of times a day, or the line does, or something does. I never had this before. Is it a feature of fibre?Huh

Re: Engineer just fitted fibre - will 15Mbps download speed improve?

Are you running the speed tests wired or wirelessly connected to the router?

Could you post the results from this speed test please: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest.html
When the test completes scroll down to the BBCode (for forums; not supported on thinkbroadband forums) Displaying Graphs and copy/paste that in your reply.

Re: Engineer just fitted fibre - will 15Mbps download speed improve?

That's a very good graph: quick ramp up, single thread the same as x6, and good latency. Why the speed is so far below your profile is a mystery.
What does a BT diagnostic speed test say for your latency?
