Is anyone else seeing intermittent problems this evening when checking for new mail?
Immediately try the same mail box again and it works.

We have initiated a networks call out and the comms guys will be organising a SSA and further updates as soon as we have investigated further.

Erm not sure what you are actually talking about there john2peel?
Back to the issue in hand, it appears there was an issue with one of the mail servers, this has now been disabled to resolve the problem. Hopefully this has stopped the timeout errors.
I'll update the service status thread shortly.

I don't think the problem is affecting only the collection of emails.  I know for sure that some of the emails I have sent yesterday evening and this morning have not yet been received.
For example, I sent myself an email to my Gmail address at 11.39 am and it has not yet been received. At 11.52am I sent myself a blind copy of an email I was sending to another person and it was received almost immediately.
I also know that some of the emails I sent yesterday evening have not yet arrived.

Are the emails that haven't arrived all to the same address? Did you get any error messages or bouncebacks for the emails not yet received?
