Drop in upload speed.

There have been a few local power cuts recently Roll_eyes and I've noticed, since the last one, my upload speed has dropped from around 800kb/s to 500kb/s and download increased from around 4.8mb/s to 5.2mb/s.
Should this sort itself out eventually or is external action required?
There is a history of power cuts but they have never appeared to affect the broadband before.
The 708kb/s "bandwidth" has always been 1000+kb/s.
It looks like my connection reset itself two hours ago.

Re: Drop in upload speed.

Hi newagetraveller,
Sometimes power cuts can have an adverse affect on broadband speeds, however it is quite rare - usually it's DLM that decides to apply Interleaving/Banding to the line.
It looks as though interleaving is on, on your line. I've just submitted a Line Reset given that this was caused by power cuts which should see your speeds return back to normal.

Re: Drop in upload speed.

Thanks Chris.
What is also happening when I try to open my web browser is that I get the router log in page and after accessing the router my "broadband" is showing as disconnected and the following message(s) -
"Connection could not be established: Could not bring up link
Your DSL connection is down. Verify that your Technicolor Gateway is correctly connected to your phone line. If the problem persists, check your documentation."
Then after a couple of connection attempts it is established until I randomly get the router log in page again with the username and password fields blank.
" Verify that your Technicolor Gateway is correctly connected to your phone line" Never been disconnected since day one.

Re: Drop in upload speed.

How long has that been going on for?
Your line is starting to look a little intermittent:

Re: Drop in upload speed.

Since the power cuts. There were around four in as many days, the last, I'm aware of, about an hour 6pm on Tuesday, seen on the "graph". Those shown on the 9th and 10th were also power cuts of short duration. Yes, there was one about 3am on the 9th. It woke me up!
All the other drops in connection, since Tuesday,  are not caused by anything I've done. I think most of those occur at the same time that router log in appears and I have to connect in the router.
Router stats, if of any use? -  The upload "bandwidth is now 555kb/s.

Re: Drop in upload speed.

So, is there a reason my "DSL Type" has changed?
What will be the reason my upload speed has dropped and remains at around 400kb/s, has it been capped?
