Drop in sync speed

My router has kept a steady sync of 6080 kbps with a 6.2 db noise margin for the past few months.  We had some electrical work done yesterday so the power was off for a few hours, since then my router stats have dropped to 2976kbps with a noise margin of 6.6 db.  I have tried resetting my router a few times but can't get these numbers to change.  I haven't moved the router atall, it is still in the test socket and nothing else has changed.  My router is the netgear DGNDD3300V2.  I wonder if anyone can offer me any advice on what to try to get my sync speed raised again.  Many thanks  Smiley

Re: Drop in sync speed

HI su4stu,
not sure why you can't get a higher sync, it's not like a high SNR is keeping it down. Maybe worth trying a different filter.

Re: Drop in sync speed

Oldjim-getting some light fittings put in to attic conversion don't think this could be cause as already had some installed previously with no probs. Jojo-have tried another filter and another router but no luck!  Thanks for suggestion though!

Re: Drop in sync speed

HI su4stu
I'll try an SNR reset and see if it kicks something.

Okay just rebooted my router again but as you can see no change really(stats below).  Is it possible there is a fault on my line and do you know if there is a way I can check?  Many thanks

Re: Drop in sync speed

Hi su4stu,
I know it's frustrating but try not to be impatient and don't keep rebooting it, otherwise I won't know if the SNR reset has worked.

Re: Drop in sync speed

Oops sorry, I thought I would have to reboot for it to take effect.  Embarrassed

Re: Drop in sync speed

can you try the test socket as it is just possible that mucking about with the attic lighting has disturbed a wire or two

Re: Drop in sync speed

Hi Oldjim.  I don't have a test socket I'm afraid, just the main one which the router is currently plugged into.  I have to admit it seems quite a coincidence that my broadband was okay until the electrician was round!

Re: Drop in sync speed

Just checked my router stats today, Jojo and as you can see my noise margin is at 10.1 with my sync speed only marginally reduced.  Should I reboot now to see if this has helped any?  Didn't want to go ahead and do it without checking first.  Smiley

Re: Drop in sync speed

Hi su4stu,
Don't think a reboot will help, but it's up to you. Does seem like the electrician might have inadvertently disturbed something.

Re: Drop in sync speed

You're right it's still at 2496kbps with a snr of 9.5db. I spoke to the electrician but he insists nothing he did could have caused a problem as he was at the other end of the house putting in a light fitting.  Is  there any way i can get the snr back to 6 as it gives a marginally better speed. I think I'll have to raise a ticket and get it looked into as I'm sitting at a speed a third of what I had!  Thanks for the help Jojo and Oldjim  Smiley

Re: Drop in sync speed

HI su4stu,
I'll do it again as I think your rebooting may have interfered with the process, but please do not reboot, any changes from this end will force one for you.
