Download speeds dropping over past week ???

My normal d/l speed has been over 2.0 MB/s. It dropped to 1.9 MB/s for a while, no big deal.
Now it's down to 1.67 MB/s. Nothing has changed with hardware or software here.
I wonder if someone can review my line please ?Huh

Hi tailendcharlie,
Your speeds appear to have returned to normal, from the latest test?

Re: Download speeds dropping over past week ???

Hi Chris, No, not normal. Maybe I've been lucky up till now, but a drop of 15% is noticeable with bigger downloads.
I'm in a rural area so contention shouldn't be an issue. I have noticed BT Open reach vans working in the area over the past 2-3 weeks...
Anything obvious at your end ?Huh
Thanks, Rob.

Re: Download speeds dropping over past week ???

Hi Rob,
I can't spot anything obvious from this end. There is some Planned Maintenance tonight by BT Openreach; they are doing some hardware/software updates.
With regards to the speeds; given the length of your line, we'd expect speeds a little better, around 16-17Mb. You mentioned download speeds of around 2.0 MB/s which leads me to believe that you've had speeds of around 19Mb I would think.
Would you be able to connect to your Test Socket so we can take another look? I know nothing has changed internally, but it's something we can at least rule out.

OK. Now connected to the test socket with a new filter. Powered down the router at the same time and rebooted.
Still no change....

Re: Download speeds dropping over past week ???

The only thing I can do remotely, is to move your SNR Target from 6db down to 3db to try and increase your sync rate.
If I do this though, there is a chance your line could become intermittent, and it would make it more susceptible to an intermittent issue.
