Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

Noticed my speeds had dropped considerably last few weeks, ran a few online speed tests and amazed to see I'd gone from around 6-7 Mbps to under 2 Mbps which is VERY disappointing.
Been reading through the hints and tips as nothing has changed my end ? was wondering if it was a case of the server filling up and getting slower ?
Anyway, tried changing filters ect with no success, followed the links on here again tonight and I'm getting this ?Huh
BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test
Broadband Speed Test Results
Download Speed (Mbps) : 1.98
Upload speed (Mbps) : 0.37
Ping latency (ms): 32.63
Any advice guys?
Cheers
A Wills

Re: Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

Can you post your ADSLmodem/router stats. If it's the 582n, to get the stats, login into your modem/router and under DSL Connection, click View more ..... as shown here and then Details on the top RHS. Just Copy and Paste the information into a post.
Also could you check your Current Line speed (Login required)

Re: Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

You say you've changed things with no result: you need to be aware that even if you do something that fixes it, there can be a delay of several hours before that is reflected in the results of speed tests while system update.
Provide the stats Anotherone has asked for and we'll be able to help you.
Also if you have a master socket with a test socket behind the removable lower half the router stats from there would be useful.

Those stats all look absolutely fine. How do you connect to the router, wired or wireless?

Re: Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

That's just the right info and that certainly isn't good/correct.  As jelv has mentioned, if that was Wireless, please check with an Ethernet connection.
There's a possibility that there could be exchange congestion, as you seem to be on 20CN, can you check the VP status of your exchange here. Have you run speedtests at off-peak times?
Can you run  the BTw Performance test (ignore the red preamble except make sure no other programs are using the Internet) and at the end of the first run, click the Further Diagnostics button, enter just your Phone number and Run the Further Diagnostics Test. Do a Copy and Paste of the results and post here (no need to grab an image). Just be worth checking that it's giving the correct profile.
The other thought is check which Gateway you are on (make a note) and then do a Gateway hop, log in to your modem/router and go to the Internet Box as shown here and click Disconnect. This drops the PPP session to Plusnet. Wait about 30 seconds and then Click Connect. You should be on a new Gateway. Run the speedtest again.

Re: Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

Hi BGG,
I've just tested your line and it showed up a consistency failure, basically your profile at the exchange isn't what it should be. I've requested an SNR reset that should resolve that within the next couple of hours, please let us know if it's made no difference?

Re: Download speed from 6-7Mbps to just under 2Mbps :(

I had the exact same issue the other day, same profile 7.15 dropped to 2meg.  Mine also seems to be sorted, as far as i'm aware.
Looking at the forums it seems to have happened to quite a few people at the same time...wierd.

No idea without information... can you please gather and post the information requested on the speed issues post at the top of this forum.
