I have just had an email from PN to tell me that one of my domains will expire soon and that they will automatically renew it on my behalf. Does anyone have any idea of the costs involved (it is a .com domain) and whether I should accept their offer? Thanks in advance.

Hi
Plusnet Charge £92.83 to renew the domain for a 2 year period.
Our subsidiary company, just-the-name.co.uk (JTN), is a dedicated registrar; and they offer a range of domain services. Please have a look at their website for the full list of features they offer. As JTN specialise in domains, you will also find that their renewal terms are more flexible and costs are lower.
The transfer costs £14.99 + VAT (when switching registrars your domain's lifespan is extended by one year). If you would like to proceed, please place an order on JTN's website and then raise a ticket confirming that you wish to transfer the registration of the domain to JTN whilst keeping the hosting with Plusnet
If you have any further queries, please feel free to let me know

Hi
1&1 are the cheapest for domain hosting and will cost £9.24 inc VAT per year. There is a transfer fee (to them) of £2.62 + VAT.

The £2.62+VAT is to transfer a .co.uk domain and represents the cost to renew the domain for 1 year. For a .com its £9.24 inc VAT
I have recently started using daily.co.uk for registrations and are very impressed so far. They charge £4.99+VAT to transfer a .com domain to them (.co.uk transfers are free) which includes renewing it for 1 year. Transfer details here.
Once transfered, just change the nameservers back to PN and arrange hosting only for the domain (its free) on your account and you can use your PN webspace for the domain website.

Good link Peter :), never came across that firm before. I take it the prices always include VAT?
May look at them too esp as 1&1 have just announced an increase in domain pricing but was still the cheapest until 'daily' that is ;D.
