Re: Does this make sense?

If you resync when the marin is 1DB it will resync with a margin of 3db and consequently a lower speed. It should then work better at the times when there's more background noise. You'll then find that during the daytime the margin will go up to 5 or 6.

Re: Does this make sense?

Understand that, but I'm STILL curious to know why the margin drops/rises so predictabibably.
Is there anything in PNs armoury that would give an idea? Clutching at straws, I know, but....................

Re: Does this make sense?

A variation like that is quite normal as people in the houses around you turn more appliances on in the evening.
I think the problem for you is that a fixed target doesn't quite work, you need the target to be 6 during the day and 3 during the evening!

Re: Does this make sense?

Thanks jelv - as I said, I understand exactly what you are saying,  but unless I spend all day watching RS - i.e not really using the  computer or doing anything else, I have no idea when its going to get to 1dB. Wink
Unfortunately, I don't have that luxury - or inclination - so I was hoping for another suggestion.  Smiley
Your help is much appreciated, however

Re: Does this make sense?

Understood. I suggest tonight when it looks as if it's gone as low as it's going to go (or you are packing up for the night) you do a resync, take note of the new stats and see where it goes from there.

Re: Does this make sense?

Thanks - I may try that.
But I just had another thought - why does it take to nearly 7AM to crawl back up to 3dB - on a regular basis?  Huh

Re: Does this make sense?

Daylight - much the same as MW/LW radio is affected.
I don't know but is wouldn't surprise me if it's also worse when the pressure is high when we see the television affected.

Re: Does this make sense?

Well, due to MBMRC, I was unable to do as you suggested last night, jelv, but overnight my router and BT had a conversation and the three pictures below tell the story.

Re: Does this make sense?

Well - it's held for 24 hours.  Smiley
I was out yesterday afternoon/evening, so thought I'd run RS, and these are the results

Re: Does this make sense?

OK - I know this is a big gap, but as the situation still exists, I thought it might still be worth pursuing.
I've been away from 7/11 to 14/11, so everything was switched off during that time, and as I was out yesterday afternoon/evening, I decided to run RSL to see what happened.
RSL graphs and router log attached.
As a point of interest, my connection was perfectly usable when I got home  Huh
