I have been having random internet drop outs over the last few weeks, basically it's like the internet drops to dial up speeds which require a router reboot, which solves the problems.
I've been adding various gadgets to 'automate' my home over the last few months and now I'm thinking my router just cant handle them. Such as nest protects, nest cams, thermostat and HUE lights (the lights connect to a hub rather than the router direct) and LG muti room speakers, connected which uses a mesh network rather than a direct router connection, I think anyway. At first I thought it was when I had both nest cams turned on it was just crashing the router but it does it when both are turned off too. I also have a unmanaged switch which connects a wired PC and PS4. I haven't got round to running more cables yet though to connect other things.
Last night I was watching Still Alice (great film btw) streaming from Google Play Movies via my chromecast, which is in the same room as my router, half way through I got the buffering circle and it just would not play, tried a speed test which said about .04 d/l but a normal upload. there was nothing else streaming or running at the time except mobiles connected to wifi but not actively in use. Although I didn't do a wired speed test last night, when this happens, and I do I get the same results.
This just seems to happening more and more and a router reboot solves it every time, but its getting annoying now.
I think its the Hub Zero I have? The one with the little Pink feet.
So is it possible I just have too much going on and the router can't handle it or some sort of line fault? I would have thought if it was a line fault even a reboot wouldn't instantly fix it.
