Discrepancy?

Can one of you knowledgeable guys please explain why BTW says that the DL profile for my ADSL line is currently 3.98mb/s whilst www.icuk.net says it is 2 or 2.5mb/s?
I've always been guided by the former (typically about 4mb/s), whereas I've only recently found out that PN goes by the latter.
The actual DL this a.m. is 2.33mb/s, although I'm not now too worried because I've now contracted for FTTC.
Just curious.

You are confusing the IP profile which is calculated from the actual sync speed and the estimate from BTw as to what you should be getting. The second is an estimate based upon your line length https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html
Plusnet don't take any notice of the BTw estimate - your line will go as fast as it can
