Re: Disconnections again

Thanks Joanne, we appreciate your help. Just did a BT Speedtest, its still saying the IP profile is 13000 but see Plusnet line speed is 14000? I thought the IP profile & line speed should be the same?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 13126 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 4000-21000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 13000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 15.67:23.25:61.08 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
Thanks

Re: Disconnections again

Hi annapp,
He tells me it will now change to 16000 in the next 10-15 minutes.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi Joanne
Thanks for that, just done a speedtest but nothing has changed yet (20.00 hrs).
I'll check again tomorrow morning.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi Joanne,
Yes! Just done a BT Speedtest:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 15763 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speedsis 4000-21000 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :18512 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 888 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 17000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 14.55:19.77:65.68 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.
The results of this test will vary depending on the way your ISP has decided to use these traffic classes.
2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.
Upload Speed
702 Kbps

0 Kbps 888 Kbps
Max Achievable Speed
>Upload speed achieved during the test was - 702 Kbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 888 Kbps
Not seen 15000+ speeds for months, also the router is showing the noise down a bit more to 9.0:
Uptime: 3 days, 7:12:18
DSL Type: G.992.5 annex A
Maximum Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 888 / 19,928

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 45
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 892,272,630 / NA
We will keep an eye on it and hope it lasts for a while (and keep plugged in to the test socket:-)
Thanks again for all your help.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi Joanne,
We seem to be getting real slow speeds this afternoon around 2000-3000kbps so I checked the router stats and saw that a couple of hours ago there was a DSL restart but the stats are amazing:
Bandwidth of 20,488 & noise of 6.5 so whats with the slow speed or is nothing to do with us? Still plugged in the test socket!

Re: Disconnections again

Hi Joanne,
Finally done the BT Speedtest, things seem OK now, we did have another Internet reset a couple of hours after the DSL reset so I guess that must have sorted it. Presumably nothing to do with us?
Download speedachieved during the test was - 15878 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 4000-21000 Kbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 16000 Kbps
The throughput of Best Efforts (BE) classes achieved during the test is - 16.13:22.59:61.28 (SBE:NBE:PBE)
These figures represent the ratio while sententiously passing Sub BE, Normal BE and Priority BE marked traffic.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi Steve,
There's many reasons you could get a speed test result like that. Could have been updates downloading in the background while you were conducting it for instance. Glad it's ok now though.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi,
I also noticed that although the bandwidth has gone up, the line speed has gone down, from 17000 over the past 10 days to 16000.  As always we'll keep an eye on it.
Thanks

Re: Disconnections again

Jojo
Would/can you fit a BT-i plate to a 21cn connection?
Just seems their line has a lot of errors i.e. hec crc etc. my line had lots of errors but after fitting a BT-i plate they went down to zero plus they would not need to leave their router plugged in to the test socket
Your thoughts please Jojo?

Re: Disconnections again

I would definitely say if it's not broke don't fix it, but I can't see any harm in fitting an i-plate.

Re: Disconnections again

Hi,
@Puddy, interesting idea, I had a look at the iplate and our socket would be suitable, but as the connection is pretty stable at the moment I am inclined to leave it be for now.
It seemed to me we had lots of errors but I am not really sure how relevant they are!
You say your line had lots of errors before fitting the iplate, was that the case when even in the test socket? Is the implication that the iplate can/might improve the test socket connection? I would have thought as we are plugged in the test socket and are effectively disconnected from the extension sockets (we do not use them anyway) and eliminating any noise/interference from them, the line is about as good as it will get? Or am I missing something?
Thanks, I am always open to any ideas.
Steve
