Disconnected at 10pm every night

I get disconnected pretty often; which in part is an acceptable trade off for Fast Path. But I am getting disconnections every night at almost exactly 10PM, seems a little to regular to be coincidental.
Get on it Plusnet folk.

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

Possibly local interference?  Anything on a timeswitch on or off at 10PM (unfortunately this could be from a neighbouring property as well).?
Central heating going off?

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

You can set some routers to disallow internet access during pre-defined hours.

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

No, central heating timer goes off at 9.
My router has not been set to block access at any time (been working fine for many years).
Street light across the road goes out at 00:00.
I am usually using the net for games or streaming at this time every night, so I can be  pretty sure that it is a new phenomenon.

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

I should point out that I get a resync when I have checked. I am not talking about losing wireless connection I am talking about the internet light going off then reconnecting a shortly after.
Some times I have to reboot the router again after that to get Xbox Live to work again, but that is by the by.

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

I was only reconnected today (after moving home) and I've had problems with my internet disconnecting for the past 45-60 minutes

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

I had a similar evening problem. Router used to go off and then refuse to connect. Tried another router which would connect but only for seconds before disconnecting again.
Couldn't say for definite what the cause was but......a local pub was being knocked down, industrial lights on for part of the late evening, and I could also see a phone pole being removed and a line rerouted.
A few days after the site cleared up so did the problem so it must have been related in some way.
Any work going on near you?

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

Well, no doubt it's 10pm:

That has to be caused by something in the area. Perhaps if it's nothing in your premises then it's a neighbour's central heating or something?
Might seem a daft question but I guess moving your router doesn't help at all?

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

If I can find a long enough cable I could move the router to check.
I am in a detached house with a couple of meters room each side. I can ask one neighbour about heating, the other would spend the rest of his miserable life flicking his heating on/off Sad
There have been major roadworks several miles away  for several years that are more or less complete; but if it were this I'm sure I would have had similar issues before.
Can't think of anything else.

Just out of interest - the central heating clock did get changed when the clocks went back?

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

Posted more or less the same thing in the ticket.
Didn't disconnect sat or sun.
You have love coincidences though right?
Sat morning my new router (TP-Link W8960N) turns up; before I install it, I do a speed test/get line stats. For the first time since I have had internet (obviously a long time) I got an Up-stream of 0.6; this might sound insignificant, but I have never seen above 0.39 (using Speedtest.net, tests therefore have a relative accuracy to self). So somebody must have done some thing to my line. A retrain mods?
I was moved to ADSL2 about a month ago, but I would have thought an Up increase would have happened immediately without a nudge.
So I install in the new router and no disconnection. I don't want to mess about plugging the old router back in at this point to find out if that was the problem.
It could always be that someone somewhere has gone on holiday; so their heating is turned off!!!

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

Perhaps if it's compatible you could try something like routerstats: http://vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm to see if there's a burst of noise at 10pm and the new router is just better at dealing with this?

Re: Disconnected at 10pm every night

Hi Matt,
That was one of the things I have considered.
Routerstats lite works. I will run it tonight.
Has anything been done on my line that has caused my upstream to improve? Remember it was before switching to a new router.
