Data Transfer Issues?

Is it just me?
I'm having significantly poor performance this afternoon.  VoIP phones becoming unreachable, http getting no data through or very very slow if it does.  MSN seems to be staying alive, Spotify also running well.  Not noticed any problems with email and DNS is resolving... but I'm getting no data transfer a lot of the time on web browsing.
All fine on my A&A line, same exchange.
I'm on pcl-ag2.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Not just you ....
DNS is resolving here OK as well, but the time to connect to sites is very slow .......
It does get there in the end, but it would appear that something is amiss .

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Me too.
I reset my modem for an hour in case one of the servers was dodgy. Got back up and running, but seem to be gettiong data errors and some timeouts.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Cool, not just me then.  It seems to be intermittent.  But for quite long periods web browsing is basically impossible.  Posted my original message from my A&A connection but managing to post this one on Plusnet.
EDIT : Aargh, confusing, two Community accounts.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

If your symptoms are sometimes web sites sitting there on the "waiting for.." or "Transferring data.." then it could be the same problem.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Hi guys,
We believe that we had a problem on PCL-AG01 earlier this afternoon when Dave was updating some Ellacoya rules.
That may have caused traffic to have been identified as "best effort".

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Me too - and I'm on ptn-ag1 so that wasn't the explanation for my problems.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

I suspect that given the number of complaints of the same thing that I've seen this afternoon, it may have affected more than one gateway.
I hope it's all working now though.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

Dave (informally) mentioned on IRC that he 'broke' all of the gateways (not just pcl-ag01) but has since fixed them again, so everything should be alright now.

Re: Data Transfer Issues?

I reloaded each of the Ellacoyas around 5pm yesterday which may well be the cause of this, while each was only offline for a minute or so during that time all traffic would have been treated equally then it would take a few minutes to relearn all the traffic flows so some traffic might have been in the wrong priority briefly while the switches worked out what it was. Traffic like DNS and HTTP are generally picked up pretty instantly but things like Skype and some other VoIP traffic may take a little longer.
