DSL Connection problem.

Hoping someone can help me here.
In the last 3 or 4 days my broadband has been down (Dropped?) i dont know how many times each day but for long periods of time. We have not made any changes at all and was wondering if this is a fault?
Tried to use the 'Having trouble with your broadband?' section on the main site but get as far as playing with microfilters but hoping to resolve it before touching anything technical.
Thanks in advance

Re: DSL Connection problem.

This isn't too technical but do you have a master socket and, if so, can you try the test socket

Re: DSL Connection problem.

Broadband dropped again at 18.30 and is still down. I do have a test socket but ill wait til morning to see if I can get a speed test if broadband is working then try the test socket.

Re: DSL Connection problem.

Have come in this morning and broadband is working.  Done a speedtest which is 3.59mbps, which sounds about right for my area. So im still at a loss as to why it keeps dropping.  Cry

Re: DSL Connection problem.

Because as night draws in the noise margin drops - this is from last night on my connection - and if it drops too far it is unable to maintain or get a connection with the default noise margin set at the exchange.
If you want help with diagnosis you are going to have to provide the stats from your router (see here for how to get them http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,96155.0.html)

Re: DSL Connection problem.

Just thought I'd post a graph showing connectivity over the last month or so in case that helps:

BTW @Fasty83 I can see you've raised a fault but there's some answers missing from the faults troubleshooter so I'd advise heading back to http://faults.plus.net to complete that so we can look into this further for you.

Re: DSL Connection problem.

Yes I did raise this, however I got to the question about micro filters and being charged etc. surely it can't be the micro filter if the broadband is still connecting at times? Last nights disconnection from 1900 to 0830 was probably myself leaving the main socket out (had to go to work). But as far as I'm aware it has not dropped today so far.

Hi Fasty83,
Your line appears to have stabled out since you last posted.

It is always worth checking your micro-filter in this scenario as it could be causing you drops even though you are having connectivity.
