@RealAleMadrid  -  Correct -  I just couldn't be bothered to argue !

See what you mean, @RealAleMadrid , but I still think it would be an idea to get the engineer out and find if there are any OR network issues causing the problem - different approaches to the issue?

Re: DSL Broadband stuck on slow speed: 3244kbps

@jab1
The original poster @Slither3249 identified an issue in the first post.
Silter3249 bypassed the master socket faceplate to restore the connection.
Since then the noise margin has been very high.
That could well indicate that the line was initially banded and remains banded due to the faulty faceplate.
In my opinion a DLM reset is justified in this scenario.

Richard

OK - I'm out-voted.😉 Lets see if a reset sorts it - permanently.

Although the OP is still reporting noise on the line when in the test socket - which suggests - to me - a fault in the OR network.

Re: DSL Broadband stuck on slow speed: 3244kbps

@willcutforth I have replied to you on the "Help Assistant", but I don't know if you can see it.

I'm not sure if a DLM Reset will work and solve all my problems. It might. If it does, great, if it doesn't, it's engineer time.

I did have an unusual disconnect last night where the "DSL uptime" stat didn't reset. I remained disconnected for ~20 minutes. That wasn't a normal disconnect. Normally, it's only for a minute or two and the DSL uptime stat resets.

Data rate and noise stats remain the same after manually disconnecting for half an hour.

That is likely to be a PPPoE disconnect, the event log category WAN or PPP (if there is one) should confirm that.

Re: DSL Broadband stuck on slow speed: 3244kbps

Yeah it was mainly after the reply to the ticket I was going to do it @Slither3249 but in all honesty the line test is failing on the voice so I think we need to get an engineer out to sort that side out and then do a reset.

Agreed, @willcutforth  - until the fault is cleared, any 'remedy' is going to be short-lived.

Re: DSL Broadband stuck on slow speed: 3244kbps

It seems to me that if a DLM reset was able to give a short term improvement to severely restricted broadband speeds, while waiting for an Openreach engineer to visit,  it seems like a no cost, no brainer, nothing to lose, thing to do.

Doing a DLM reset isn't going to make anything worse, and a DLM reset isn't going to mask a voice fault when a phone engineer eventually visits, and might just get @Slither3249 through Christmas with useable internet.

If they agree to the engineer appointment fairly quickly, the chances are it will be actioned before the holiday period.

@RealAleMadrid Yes, I find that SNR tends to go down as speed goes up. I think I usually get around ~10dB at 34-38Mbps.

Yes, let's just get an engineer. Prefer after 3pm any day, else, after noon.

Re: DSL Broadband stuck on slow speed: 3244kbps

Line restored to normal speed:

Screenshot 2023-12-16 at 15-03-40 Plusnet Hub Manager - Information for Helpdesk agents.png

The disconnect happened at 2:30am, with one reading of negative downstream SNR.

So I don't have an immediate problem for an engineer to solve, unless the line is still faulty. Maybe that brief negative SNR shouldn't have happened.
