DNS query

Recently got a new Technicolor router from Plusnet (going well - no problems  Smiley ) but I have two questions, both related to DNS.
Firstly, I see that the IPv4 settings on the router show the PN DNS,  though on my laptop control panel the DNS is set elsewhere.
How can I check which DNS numbers are actually in use?
Secondly, if I wish to change the DNS settings on the router, can I do so by simply deleting them and typing in the new ones or might this cause trouble - and if so how can I change them if I should want to?

Re: DNS query

To check the ones in use open a Command Prompt window and type ipconfig /all
To change them in the router look here http://npr.me.uk/

Re: DNS query

Thanks for that OJ.
The link shows that changing the router is outside my current experience, so I'll probably leave that until I have lots of spare time -especially since " ipconfig/all" showed that the computer setting seems to override the router, which is what I was hoping.

Re: DNS query

The computer (or device) settings do override the router.  It may be possible to configure the router's firewall to block the use of other DNS servers but that is another story.
