DLM training period

Hi there,
Was just wondering how long the DLM training period is for, remember something about 10 days but not totally sure?
The reason is I like to drop my SNR noise margin to what I know is stable on my line by using the DGTeam firmware.
Thanks.

Re: DLM training period

My understanding is that it is ten days.
Fortunately with the DGTeam firmware you will be able to see when it is complete by checking the "ShowtimeRetrain Reason" status.
My DG834GT with DGTeam firmware shows the following -
ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: ShowtimeRetrain Reason: 0
Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 448 Kbps, Downstream rate = 8128 Kbps
Link Power State: L0
Mode: G.DMT
Channel: Fast
Trellis: ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime

ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: ShowtimeRetrain Reason: 1
Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 448 Kbps, Downstream rate = 8128 Kbps
Link Power State: L0
Mode: G.DMT
Channel: Fast
Trellis: ON
Line Status: No Defect
Training Status: Showtime
I'm currently near the end of day two of ten, having my line retrained due to the exchange doing a wobbly and losing control of my line, after seven years of having a solid connection !  Roll_eyes

Re: DLM training period

Thanks for the replies.
Really helpful purleigh.
Think I'm on an older version of the firmware and it's listed under ADSL driver status, what I see is this:
/usr/sbin/adslctl: ADSL driver and PHY status
Status: ShowtimeRetrain Reason: 8000
Channel: FAST, Upstream rate = 1171 Kbps, Downstream rate = 19023 Kbps
Link Power State: L0
So what does the "8000" mean?

Re: DLM training period

The question of what do the retrain numbers mean has been asked before.
Unfortunately nobody, including the Plusnet staff, have ever come back with a definitive list.  Sad
Maybe someone reading this can have another go at finding out.  Undecided

Re: DLM training period

See what you mean purleigh.
After a bit of searching it seems no one knows particularly with the number 8000 Sad
Hopefully it will just change in 10 days or so.
Thanks for your replies you've been really informative  Smiley

I do find it quite incredible that the same question appears throughout the world (on Google) and there isn't a definitive wiki page, or modem manufacturers website, or telecom operators page, that has the answer !
