DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

This morning the DLM made a few more changes after my previous raised ticket. Upload attenuation 6db to 12db. Speed 1.2Mbps to .7Mbps. I considered to upload to be stable.

What estimated speed should I get for an upload attenuation of 22db?

What estimated speed should I get for an download attenuation of 39db?

Are upload and download speed capped?

Below are today's stats after a reset by the DLM. Modem connected to Master socket test port. Filter and line changed.

Physical Connectivity OK

Re: DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

DLM hasn't changed anything after 4 days. Today stats below. The DLM change of upload attenuation 4 days ago from 6 to 12db seemed unnecessary. I had a nice upload speed of 1200kbps which seem steady.

Also if the download attenuation was dropped to 12db it would give a faster speed. Also the DSL Mode is G.992.3. Would not G.992.6 give a faster speed too?

Download attenuation still at 15db.

Re: DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

I would contact Plusnet support.

After Openreach messed about in my area my SNR went from 3dB to 9dB and although my line had held for over 50 days it was still stuck on 9db. I switched the broadband off for 4 days while away this weekend, hoping that it would give it a  prod but today still 9dB.

So don't rely on the DLM getting it sorted for you!

Warning though I just tried the support phone line, got a message saying over 30 minutes wait so gave up.

It is all very well saying award winning support in the ads, but Plusnet need more staff manning the phones.

I would suggest you raise another ticket!

Re: DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

Just did a manual soft reboot ie re-sync, of modem. Got my Upload 6db Attenuation and 1200kbps upload speed back. Hooray.

Re: DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

My stats after 3 days 10 hours. Should I soft or hand reboot the Modem to re-sync. Or will the DLM do any auto re-sync?

Re: DLM raised upload attenuation from 6db to 12db. Now 700kbps from nice 1200kbps

The DLM will trigger any auto resync, you should not reboot the modem. It will probably be much quicker to ask Plusnet to reset the downstream target SNR margin, if you think that whatever caused it to increase in the first place is no longer an issue.

To answer one of your previous questions, the DSL type of G.992.3 (ADSL2) has been automatically determined to be the best setting for your line, and it will automatically change to using G.992.5 (ADSL2+) when possible.
