Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

I had a call from "John" at PlusNet about a week ago and he said he would raise it as a fault. The Ticket hasn't been updated though and is still "awaiting attention".
The Line is perfectly stable as you can see below and has been synced for 21 days:
ADSL line status
Connection information
Line state Connected
Connection time 21 days, 5:30:59
Downstream 4,768 Kbps
Upstream 448 Kbps
ADSL settings
VPI/VCI 0/38
Type PPPoA
Modulation ITU-T G.992.1
Latency type Fast
Noise margin (Down/Up) 13.1 dB / 0.0 dB
Line attenuation (Down/Up) 36.0 dB / 18.5 dB
Output power (Down/Up) 19.8 dBm / 12.2 dBm
Loss of Framing (Local) 0
Loss of Signal (Local) 0
Loss of Power (Local) 0
FEC Errors (Down/Up) 0 / 0
CRC Errors (Down/Up) 98129 / 2147480001
HEC Errors (Down/Up) 49547 / 935
Error Seconds (Local) 1

Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

Hi Wheel_nut,
the ultimate problem here is the noise margin. When you were at 6dB you had a sync of 7392 and now you're at 15dB you're getting 4768. This is about right as you will lose about 800k for every 3dB increase. The only way to increase this is to see if there is a way to reduce your SNR. As there are errors on the line this is usually about 90% end user. Are you still using the BT hub? Are you in the test socket, extensions etc?

Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

Hi Joanne,
Yes, I am still using the Home Hub V2 Type A connected to the Test Socket.
Why do you say that there are still errors on the line? The CRC Count on the BT Home Hub always reads 2147480001. It is a "Feechur" of the BT HH!. The HEC errors are not significany over 21 days. It looks very clean to me.

HI Wheel_nut ,
one of our faults guys had a look at it for me and suggested you try another router to see if it improves.

Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

Hi Wheel_nut,
Ok, well I"m willing to try another reset if you are but if the SNR was to jump back up again then I wouldn't see the point in going down that route anymore. What do you reckon, you up for it?

Hi Wheel_nut,
Not sure if I can do it from home but I'll give it a try for you now.

Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

Sad  Undecided
My line stayed synced at 7007Kbps @ 6db for almost 3 days. Arounf 05:00 on Sunday morning, it re-synced @ ~6200Kbps  @ 9db. I had a call from Dan at PlusNet at around 11:00 on Sunday and he suggested that there was some noise on my line and it was showing up on a Line test he had done.
We agreed that I would call my Line provider (Primus Telecom) and get them to do a Line Test which should show the errors that Dan had seen. I will call Primus today (Monday) morning and hopefully get them to get Openreach to fix it.
Below are current stats. Note that I re-synced the Router at around 20:00 (Sunday) to check that DLM had really raised my SNR Margn to 9db.

Re: DLM not working? My SNR Margin is stuck at 12db

Hi wheel_nut,
Hopefully when the source of the noise is fixed you'll stop seeing these errors. The profile should sort itself out too as Jojo says, but let us know if there's anything we can do in the mean time.
