DGTeam firmware

I’ve recently seen a couple of posts that refer (example below) to this firmware for the Netgear DG834 router. Does this firmware replace the version downloaded from Netgear? Is it safe? It appears to offer extra functionality?
I’d be interested to hear users views

I have used it before and it worked well, it is safe though as with all firmware upgrades there is a slight risk that it won't apply properly.
So make sure you have the netgear recovery tool and instructions ready
