Current sped drop - result of flooding?

I've just got a massive speed drop that I've noticed. Previously I've been connecting at about 5Mbps, but looking at it today I'm down to 1.6. SNR is ~6db. What's strange is that I'm not connecting on ADSL2+ anymore, it only connects on ADSL2. Is this just because of the high errors? I've just started routerstats logging so will see if that yields anything, but could this be because of the recent very high rain. The watertable here is very high and some parts of the area have a lot of standing water.
I had a REIN issue earlier in the year, but that got sorted and I've just checked with an AM radio and don't appear to have any (noticeable) interference at the moment.

I would get some sandbags out instead of worrying about your internet speed..

Phone line's still working fine. There's just standing water on some of the fields. Not major flooding (also I'm at the top of a small hill so definitely not needing sandbags!)

The reason I asked is because my experience of an underwater connection is that the phone service is much more severely affected than the broadband.  And this has happened to me twice.

Hi agentgonzo,
Your line has been banded and interleaving has been turned on as your line is currently experiencing a high amount of errors. This is why you are receiving slower speeds.
I've ran a test on your line and there is no fault detected, I'd suggest leaving your connection on and see how it is over the next 24 hours and see if there's any change.

Thanks Chris. I've left routerstats running overnight and there has been a fairly constant SNR and sync speed. See attachment.
I'm not sure what to do about it as the phone line is fine yet constant lower sync speed compared with a week or so ago. I'll leave routerstats running. Nothing has changed my end, only one phone connected to the master socket and via a filter etc. I suppose there's nothing more that I can do at this stage except wait and if there's no improvement register a fault?
Does anyone know why it's connecting as ADSL2 and not ADSL2+?

OK... that's embarrassing. I found this morning that the router had slipped off its shelf and was nicely perched on top of its power block. I moved it off and hey presto, SNR jumped up by a factor of 3. SNR is now about 20...
Can some of you nice folk at PN issue a SNR reset and raise my IP profile back again please?

Hi there,
I'd be happy to but there's been a couple of disconnections on your line over the past couple of days:

That may well cause your line to train at a lower profile than it might if things were stable, I think it'd be best to wait a couple of days to confirm it is stable before we do the reset - your call though.

Matt - thanks for the reply. The disconnection on Monday was me trying a router reset because of the low connection speed. Not too sure what the other ones were but we have had a few powercuts in the last week or two so some of them will have been those - but as the SNR is now up to above 20 and it got better IMMEDIATELY after I moved it off the power block. The graph above is just comical.
I'm happy for you to do a SNR reset as it has to be the fact that the router was sat on the power block!

Have you also confirmed that the number of errors being logged has gone back to normal levels?

I haven't, no. I can't do that until I get home this evening so it may be worth checking that. But I'm about 99.9% certain that it was the router-on-the-powerblock that caused the problem.

Well, I'd definitely recommend leaving it another day or so just to confirm that but will reset the SNR if you wish - just let us know.
