Current line speed of 0.5mb

Hi,

Suddenly since yesterday our broadband connection has become unbearable. Even trying to watch BBC iPlayer in the lowest quality setting isn't working.

Checking the line via my landline it seems fine.

Any ideas why this speed has suddenly dropped and what I can do?

Hi Jamie, I feel your pain. I'm having similar issues - although more like 0.2mbps for me!

 

 

In the first instance follow the steps in this topic and post your results.

 

Then you're probably looking at logging as a fault at https://faults.plus.net

Hi Jamie,


Your line seems to be erroring quite frequently, I've made a change to the line settings to try and combat this. Can you monitor it and let us know how it's performing over the next 24 hours.

Thanks Chris.

I reported a fault last week and PlusNet support applied a fix which took the 'current line speed' in my PlusNet members area from 0.5mb to 3.4mb

The speed has now dropped to 2.2mb, so while not as bad as 0.5, it's still a sharp drop compared to last week.

I've just submitted an SNR reset to 6db which should hopefully get you back to downstream speeds in that region.
