Why does this seem to be specific to fibre

I'm guessing its frequencies. My homeplugs were using to connect my PS4 to my switch, but where on a plug socket near my FTTC modem.

Re: Couple of power cuts - Interleaving and delay increased massively FTTC

Well it took my banded profile off this morning, so it is at least doing something.
However, I noticed something a bit concerning. I have a rate limit set on my BT modem, that means I only connect at 38700Kbps. This gives me an SNRM of 7.9dB usually (I'm doing this to try and get interleaving taken off my line). However, today when I reconnected at that rate, it gives me an SNRM of 6.4dB. Usually 6.4dB gives me around 43000Kbps instead of 38700Kbps.
I've checked the line stats using the --pbParams flag but it shows that there is no extra interference or attenuation on the line.
Any idea why my line SNRM has taken such a drastic dive?
