Couple of issues (billing and connection)

Hi, I have a couple of issues I was hoping to discuss, one related to billing and the other related to broadband connection.

Firstly, my bill is usually £24.99, and on the statement it's broken down like this: Line rental (£21.22) + Unlimited Fibre Extra  (£22.28) - Discount (£18.51) = £24.99.

This month the bill is £29.41 and the breakdown seems a bit all over the place: Line rental (-£19.17) + Line rental (£20.95) + Line rental (£23.19) - Unlimited Fibre Extra (-£20.12) + Unlimited Fibre Extra (£21.99) + Unlimited Fibre Extra (£24.35) + Discount (£16.72) - Discount (-£18.27) - Discount (-£20.23) = £29.41.

I'm just wondering, is this some sort of bill correction/increase that's been calculated this month specifically or is this a mistake? 'Line rental', 'Unlimited Fibre Extra' and 'Discount' are all listed three times and the breakdown just seems really messy. I'm not aware of anything that would have led to this bill increase.

Secondly, I've noticed our broadband has been disconnecting at least a couple of times a day over at least the last few days (flashing orange on the router for a minute or so before turning blue again). There seems to be an issue with my phone not automatically reconnecting once the broadband connection is restored (even though I've got auto reconnection activated on my phone's settings). This is leading me to unknowingly eat into my mobile data until I manually sign in again to Plusnet broadband.

Is there anything I can try to either a) stop the disconnections from happening entirely or b) ensure devices are reconnected automatically once the connection is restored?

Thanks

Jopes

Re: Couple of issues (billing and connection)

I have this exact set of problems.

Broadband going down very briefly during the day, I notice immediately as we work from home.

Get on to the router and see it has disconnected, then it reconnects a few minutes later.

My bill this month is also a complete mess.

I signed a new contract last month at £21 all in, and this month the bill has come through at over £50.

Something must be going on with the billing system, there are other posts on the forum mentioning this issue.

Re: Couple of issues (billing and connection)

Fix

Jopes, it appears that your billing date is the 28th so your March bill was for the period 28/03 to 27/04 and charged at the pre 31 March rates. Your April bill includes adjustments to account for the period 31/03/22 to 27/04/22.

Hence  Line Rental 28/31 x £21.22 = £19.17 repaid, 28/31 x £23.19 = £20.95 charged for 31/03/22 to 27/04/22 and £23.19 charged for 28/04/22 to 27/05/22.

Unlimited Fibre Extra 28/31 x £22.28 = £20.12 repaid, 28/31 x £24.35 = £21.99 charged for 31/03/22 to 27/04/22 and £24.35 charged for 28/04/22 to 27/05/22.

Discount 28/31 x £18.51 = £16.72 removed, 28/31 x £20.23 = £18.27 applied for 31/03/22 to 27/04/22 and £29.41 applied for 28/04/22 to 27/05/22.

Your May bill for these services should be £23.19 + £24.35 - £20.25 = £27.31 (i.e. 9.3% increase)

Re: Couple of issues (billing and connection)

Thanks @DeIT. I think I get it. It basically comes down to the 9.3% increase and the billing date.

I just need to sort out this connection issue next (happened again today). Might make a new post in the other forum about it though as the billing part of the query has been answered.
