Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

Cheers. And re. old devices from 2012 (like a phone, laptop, or tablet), would they connect to the 5ghz band quite easily?

It depends if those devices are compatible with 5Ghz.

From 31st October 2022, I no longer have a regular presence here as I’ve moved on to a new role.

@DaveyH  - Thanks. But I'm just looking for a standard but efficient dual band router for an ADSL line, rough price between £30-50 And not sure what you mean by xDSL. I'm not that techie-savvy I'm afraid.

xDSL is just the collective term for the various DSL technologies including ADSL, and VDSL etc.

That particular router you linked to has no modem at all, just an Ethernet Wan connection so it's no use to you on its own. It would require connecting to an external modem.

The ones I linked to have either integrated ADSL modems or ADSL/VDSL modems (go for the later if you want to future proof yourself/upgrade to fibre) and therefore don't require a separate modem.

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

@DaveyH - But that router I linked to; would it work fine on a bog-standard ADSL line?

And to be honest, I don't really have any intention on having fibre at all. Average speed I normally tend to get (on ADSL) is between 15-17MB which is more than sufficient.

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

As I already explained not on its own, as it doesn't have an integrated ADSL modem. It would require a connection to a separate ADSL modem to work on your line.

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

With many people upgrading to fibre you will find some very good ADSL modem/routers going quite cheaply (£30-40) on Ebay.

I have an Asus N55U which worked very well as a modem/router on ADSL before I upgraded to fibre. I still use it now as a router coupled to an unlocked HG612 fibre modem.

The order is due to complete on 8th Sept.

@Gandalf - Sadly the upload speed has remained the same (@443kbps). And do I have to switch off the router for it to come into effect?

I've just resubmitted the order, but manually this time.
Can you let us know how things look tomorrow?

@Gandalf - Sure. And as mentioned before, would I have to restart the router for it to come into effect?

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

Unlikely, but if you don't see a change by Wednesday I'd recommend rebooting.

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

@Gandalf - Unfortunately no change since yesterday. As you say, I'll give it until tomorrow and if need be, I'll reboot the router and see what happens.

Re: Could you please uncap my upload speed?

Hmm, the modify order completed yesterday yet testing your line is still showing a sync of 443kbps

Let us know how it goes after you reboot.
