Could we have access to the Plusnet connection records?

Every so often, one of the Plusnet staff will present a beautiful graphic representation of the connection history of a line, for example here http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,90677.msg756833.html#msg756833
Would it be possible to make this information available to the customer, through the Connection Settings option in the Account details?  Just an idea.

I asked this question a while ago, and was told it couldn't be done, however, my last ISP (ADSL24) did provide connection logs which users could access through "My Account". It was just a basic text listing of times logged on and off, and duration. I'm sure +net could make this information available if they wanted to. Perhaps they lack the will or technical know-how these days?

Re: Could we have access to the Plusnet connection records?

Hi guys,
I think it's probably a case of supply and demand. If there was a switch or a button that allowed this to be done then I'm sure it wouldn't be a problem, but in reality that type of interface would require a lot of building and maintenance and a lot more strain on our radius reporting servers. Bearing in mind only a very, very small percentage of the customer base would ever want to access this kind of information, I think our time would be better spent dealing with things that would benefit all customers.
If anyone wants a graph of their connection logs I would be more than happy to provide them.

You must know best, Joanne.  But we can already look up our bandwidth usage day-by-day and our Plusnet IP Profile.  I suspect a very small percentage of Plusnet's client base ever accesses that information.  The connection history must be the one piece of information that is relevant to broadband problems that Plusnet don't make directly available to its clients.

Hehe, yes, women ALWAYS know best Wink
But, as far as Plusnet goes, A lot of people want to know how much they've used and they also want to know about speed. AFAIK most routers offer some sort of connection logs.

I've never seen a router log that records the speed you synced at each time! When an IP Profile has taken a dive that is the most useful information and you have it available. It wouldn't need a fancy interface, just the ability to download it as a csv would be great.

Re: Could we have access to the Plusnet connection records?

Yes, you can get some information from your router's log but the log vanishes if you have to restart the router.
Yes, you can use a router monitoring program like "Routerstats" but only whilst your computer is up and running.
Plusnet's system isn't subject to either constraint.
