Contact phone numbers

I have a Netgear 834 router and since Friday I have been unable to connect to the internet. I want to speak to technical support, but none of the phone numbers listed are working (number not recognised). Can anyone help? Please.

Re: Contact phone numbers

Hello Jojo,
Yes, I did get through to Plusnet, but will leave technical help until it's a bit quieter, thanks.
i've just tried another router, but still cannot connect to the net. I've been tethering since Friday, but it will not allow me to send any emails.
It seems I'm not the only one with a Netgear router who is having problems, any suggestions would be welcome.

Re: Contact phone numbers

Hi Vince,
Need a bit more info to help. Tell me what lights are on or off on the router.

Re: Contact phone numbers

All relevant lights are on (green) apart from the internet light which is red.

Re: Contact phone numbers

Hi vlbvlb,
Firstly check that the router has your correct username and password in
username = username@plusdsl.net
Password = account password.
The reason I ask this is that sometimes routers can factory reset, losing your settings.
If they are set correctly try rebooting your router if you have not dine that already.
If you still can't connect then try
Username = bt_test@startup_domain
Password = test
Then
Username = bt_test_user@plusdsl.net
Password = test
Please make sure you give these test log ins a couple of minutes to try to authenticate before deciding that they don't work.
Let me know how you get on.

Re: Contact phone numbers

Hi Jojo,
I have tried the two tests but both seem to fail. Checked all that you've asked me to do and others more than once, but still no connection.
i'll leave it until the morning,nite,nite. Smiley

Re: Contact phone numbers

Morning Jojo,
One thing i can't understand, is why I can download emails(via tethering), but not send them,feels as though something is corrupted your end.
Got another dg834 that I can try tonight, I may as well give it a go just in case.

Re: Contact phone numbers

Hi vlbvlb,
If you are using another network for email you'll need to enable SMTP authentication for your outgoing server in your client. Alternatively you can use your mobile network's outgoing mail server instead.
