Re: Connection speed and now dial tone

@cactusj
If you log into your Router, click Disconnect, wait about 30 seconds before powering it off, then wait about another minute and power off the Modem, you can then plug a (corded) phone into the test socket to confirm the line is dead, then unless there is any obvious damage that was on your property you certainly shouldn't be charged.
However do this in daylight hours, so that you will be booting up again say an hour before sunset. stay off for say 15 minutes minimum.
Power up the Modem, wait for the lights to stabilise and sync is achieved, then power up the Router and then log in and click Connect to re-establish the PPP session.

Re: Connection speed and now dial tone

Thanks to everyone for their support and advice. Much appreciated.
A BT engineer phoned me just now, and said he was at the green box. He reckons it was a loose wire causing the dead landline.
He did some tests and said all seems ok. Very happy - landline is working again.
In regards to the broadband speeds...
Ran through all the steps requested on the Plusnet fault reporting system.
http://speedtest.btwholesale.com/ - reveals a 32.94Mb download speed and a 4.59Mb upload speed, with a 35.63ms ping latency.
I have raised a ticket (Question #90300797)  to try and raise the upload speed to previous levels achieved Friday through to Sunday.

Don't forget, it's the BT IP Profile down, that's the important thing - you have to run Further Diagnostics to get that
Your Current Line Speed should update to match.
