Connection keeps dropping since about 17:00.

Since around 17:00 this evening my connection has been dropping at random intervals.    Sometimes it's just the 'Internet' and other it's both the 'Internet' and 'DSL' lights that go out.  They reconnect automatically straight away, but this is playing absolute havoc with my gaming and skype.

Re: Connection keeps dropping since about 17:00.

I've checked over the line and can see that the SNR (Signal To Noise Ratio) Target is set at 3db, this can leave your line quite susceptible to drops. Your SNR has risen to just over 8db. It looks as though something is causing interference on your line - it could quite easily be something external, outside of your control.
I would advise changing the SNR Target from 3db to 6db in the first instance, just to give the line a little more stability and resistance. It shouldn't affect your gaming as your speeds are really good as they are.
If you're happy for me to make this change for you, please do let me know and I'll get that arranged for you.

Sure, go for it.    I've been out today, so don't know if it's been dropping and reconnecting again but anything that can help is appreciated.

No problem, I've just submitted those changes for you.
You should notice a difference within 30 minutes or so.

Thanks. I'll give the router a re-boot in an hour or so.

There should be no need, however, rebooting shouldn't cause you a problem Smiley

Re: Connection keeps dropping since about 17:00.

What the hell?  Since you did this my speed has gradually dropped by half, I was getting a steady 11-13Mb download and a 1Mb upload, now it's this
Quote
DSL Upstream Rate:   664 Kbps
DSL Downstream Rate: 5923 Kbps

 I want my speed back.
Not to mention that in the last 10 minutes the connection has started to drop constantly, check out that thing that gives you the graph, like posted a few posts above.  I'm also getting this.
Quote
DSL Noise Margin:     1.4 dB     6551.6 dB

I want my internet back.  The one I'm paying you for.  The one I was getting a day or so ago.  This is beyond a joke.

"A little more stability and resistance"? You've wrecked my internet connection.
The DSL keeps dropping, in fact I'm lucky if it stays up long enough for me to post this.   How am I supposed to work, game and skype if the DSL connection keeps dropping every 30s or so?   Please undo whatever it is you did, I want both my stability and download/upload speed back.

Re: Connection keeps dropping since about 17:00.

The drops are not related to the changes that I have made to your connection. Moving the SNR Target from 3db to 6db, if anything has reduced the number of drops that you would have seen this morning, had I not have made those changes.
I've checked over the line again and there's clearly a fault with the service. You can see a graph of your connection below:

I can appreciate that having a dropping connection fault can be really inconvenient but unfortunately faults do happen ad our Faults Team need to get this looked at and get it fixed.
Please raise a fault at http://faults.plus.net and we'll get that sorted out for you.

Re: Connection keeps dropping since about 17:00.

Done that, despite it taking ages due to the connection dropping as I was going through it.  Don't have access to another router though.
Strange thing is, I thought problem had gone away yesterday, as there was quite a long period where it didn't drop, or at least where I didn't notice it dropping, but today (since15:30) it's been dropping numerous times.

Thanks for completing that - the faults team will update you once they've completed their initial testing.
