Hi, my connection has been dropping out regularly since roughly last Friday - before this I have gone a few years without a problem. Ive noticed this seems to be possibly happening more in later evening but only since it seemed to run most of Sunday daytime without too many issues untill 5ish. Im a bit IT retarded so hopefully this is the correct information that you require, if not feel free to speak to me as if I am a small child till I get it right! Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you checked if there is any background noise on the phone? (Dial 17070 option 2 for the quiet line test)

Hi there,
I've tested the line for noise and performed some diagnostics. Neither indicate any obvious issues.
I've just taken a look at a view of your disconnections/connections over the past 7 days and can see that you seem to be impacted by this in the evenings between 5pm and midnight.
With that in mind is that perhaps when you're using the connection most heavily?
Also do you have any electrical systems or devices that might switch on or off during those times such as a heating or an alarm system?

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the reply and subsequent tests. Yes, I only tend to use the internet in the evenings and weekends due to work etc although this problem has never happened before and I don't believe im using it any more heavily than usual with the possible exception of Sunday just gone. I have no alarms and my heating is set to much later than when the problem starts. The only possibility on that front would be a neighbour I suppose since I live in a flat?
Thanks
Chris

Hi,
Just looking at your connection logs that Adam posted, and that's screaming REIN (Electrical interference) to me. I see Adam's asked you for certain checks, but it is also worth asking you if you've got any new electrical equipment recently (digiboxes, telly's etc). I've seen the most obscure things causing REIN such as like shaving lights, televisions, security lighting, older Christmas lights (but not in October and to be fair, I haven't seen these in a couple of years), electric fences, central heating systems and street lights.
Of course you are right that, it could easily be caused by a neighbour as well.
If it is REIN (and I would hazard a guess that it is), then it might be worth raising to our faults team here for us to arrange an engineer visit for you.
Tony
