Connection and speed dropping

After the longish saga of my issues with peak time slow downs, all was well with my connection for a while, however since about Tuesday 23/7/13 the connection has dropped many times, and as a result DLM appears to have kicked my speed quite a bit downwards.
The router (BT HomeHub 4) has logs of all the disconnections, and they mainly show that the disconnections were user-requested (they weren't):
[tt]07:23:38, 26 Jul. (71647.930000) DSL is up
07:23:37, 26 Jul. (71647.000000) DSL noise margin: 6.00 dB upstream, 4.90 dB downstream
07:23:36, 26 Jul. (71645.990000) DSL line rate: 719 Kbps upstream, 11960 Kbps downstream
07:22:47, 26 Jul. (71597.000000) DSL is down after 3 minutes uptime
07:22:47, 26 Jul. (71596.990000) ETHoA is down after 3 minutes uptime
07:22:46, 26 Jul. (71595.830000) PPPoA is down after 3 minutes uptime [Waiting for Underlying Connection (WAN DSL - Up)]
07:22:44, 26 Jul. (71593.780000) PPP LCP Send Termination Request [User request][/tt]
This is an example from yesterday morning. Connection has not dropped since, but DSL line rate has fallen through the floor. From just 5 minutes earlier:
[tt]07:19:30, 26 Jul. (71399.650000) DSL line rate: 1144 Kbps upstream, 14584 Kbps downstream[/tt]
which is much more in line with the sort of speeds I've been seeing since I had the previous issues. Prior to Tuesday the connection had been up for almost 4 weeks without a break.
I may be switching back to the HH3 in case the HH4 may have issues - the wireless stopped working a couple of days before this, but it came back on following a switch off/on of the wireless in the router's GUI. I may just do a full reset of the HH4 first. In any case, I'll wait till the middle of the day tomorrow as at least one re-synch will be required.
Can I request a Visual Radius log to confirm my router log, please?

Re: Connection and speed dropping

Just to note, the connection had stayed up since this:
[tt]07:23:38, 26 Jul. (71647.930000) DSL is up
07:23:37, 26 Jul. (71647.000000) DSL noise margin: 6.00 dB upstream, 4.90 dB downstream
07:23:36, 26 Jul. (71645.990000) DSL line rate: 719 Kbps upstream, 11960 Kbps downstream[/tt]
So, I took the plunge - disconnected, powered off the Hub 4 for the better part of 30 minutes and reconnected.
[tt]16:08:10, 28 Jul. ( 108.530000) DSL is up
16:08:09, 28 Jul. ( 108.060000) DSL noise margin: 5.90 dB upstream, 6.00 dB downstream
16:08:08, 28 Jul. ( 107.150000) DSL line rate: 1115 Kbps upstream, 14680 Kbps downstream[/tt]
The line rate has gone back up - I'll just have to wait and see if it stays stable like this.

Re: Connection and speed dropping

Hi jaggies,
Looks like the connection has been more stable since the last reboot you performed:

I'd continue to keep an eye on this over the next few days and just give us a shout if that becomes an issue again.

Re: Connection and speed dropping

Thanks Adam - the drop at around 23:00 on Sunday night was not requested, the drop between 16:00-17:00 today was a power cut. We're not prone to them, but there was a terrible thunderstorm which didn't help matters. I'll keep monitoring.
