Connection Dropouts

HI there,
Like the title says, i'm having dropouts as frequently as every 15secs. I had a similar issue on Christmas Day. Is there any maintenance going on or is it something that will resolve itself. Thanks in advance, Epic.

Re: Connection Dropouts

It's really quite bad at the moment.
It's also quite interesting that the connection was solid for 8 days between Christmas day and today, only for the problem to come about again.
No maintenance is going on currently - can you therefore confirm if you've been able to do any tests, such as plugging the router into your test socket?

Re: Connection Dropouts

I haven't been able to do any tests with the test socket because I don't know where it is. We have 2 possibly 3 sockets in my house. One upstairs and one/two downstairs. My connection cuts out before I can complete any BT tests. I only have one router that I bought to replace my failed Thompson. Is there a possibility that I am being DDOSed?

Re: Connection Dropouts

The weird thing is that my friend can upload images from his iPad to FB while connected to the network.

This is your connection. When you have problems, I need you to note the sync light on the router. Does this flash or change colour?
I don't think you are being DDossed.

Re: Connection Dropouts

Are you using a wired or a wireless connection to the router? If it's usually wireless, do you see any dropouts if you use a wired connection?

Re: Connection Dropouts

I'm using a wired connection for my PC and Sony TV but everything else is on the wireless. My iPad is on the 5GHz frequency and my iPhone and iPod are on 2.4GHz. My router is a TP-Link N600. It's the top of the range one so I don't think the router is the issue. At the moment the dropouts are much less frequent but i've had a couple playing CS:GO and watching YT videos.

Re: Connection Dropouts

Your line has been stable since Saturday evening, if the disconnections come back I'd suggest going through the faults checker at https://faults.plus.net

Where you using an electrical appliance / device between 11:30 and 16:00 on Saturday which you do not use regularly?

Re: Connection Dropouts

@townman not that I can remember. If my memory is correct, I was playing CS:GO on my computer.
The line has completely gone now. It's been ~2 hours since it first went out. I want to try and do some more troubleshooting before I report a fault.

Re: Connection Dropouts

There was a similar burst of disconnections just before you said the line went off, there's something not right if this keeps happening.

Re: Connection Dropouts

Same happened yesterday. I ended up going out so I turned the router off whilst I was out and when I got back it was working again. I am thinking of going to fibre, would that erase the issues?

Re: Connection Dropouts

Not if the problem is between the cabinet and you (which is the most likely place for the issue to be located).

Re: Connection Dropouts

Hi there, just waited a for a halt in the dropouts to post this. I have learned from my parents that the phone has been failing to connect in similar patterns. They thought it was the handsets. The phone won't connect then after a couple of tries it will connect for a minute or two and will then disconnect. Does this confirm something and if so, what should I do?
