Complete drop outs and lag in between

Hey guys, for the past 2 weeks our router completely drops the internet at least twice a day. Doesn't turn off or anything, it just stops transmitting the internet both wirelessly and via ethernet. It's random and does it without any interference from anyone in the household. After around 30-60 seconds, it'll come back online again, again without any input from myself or any other household members. As you can imagine, this is becoming quite frustrating. The past 3 days or so, whilst gaming online on console there has been some outrageous lag as well. It comes from nowhere, even if nobody else is using the internet at all other than my Xbox360. The only way to stop the lag is of course to turn the router off for 5 mins and then back on again. This along with the random dropouts is really becoming quite infuriating. Could it be the router that needs replacing or are you having troubles with your service in my area? My postcode is CB75EZ.
Thanks in advance for any help on the matter,
Chris

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

Hi Chris,
I've posted a graph of your connection below.
<img src="http://ccgi.psmith12.plus.com/visradius/generated/image13724082431168.png"/>
Does your phone line have any interference or crackling when you use it?
I'd also suggest running through our faults wizard at http://faults.plus.net so we can get this resovled.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

I tried to run the troubleshooter and it said "There has been a problem. We're sorry, but you can't use the broadband troubleshooter to report a fault on your service. Please cnteact our support team for help"
That's all it said when i ran the faults tester  Sad
Help? haha
Sidenote: There is no interference or crackling when using the phoneline.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

There's a ticket open on your account, our faults team will take a look over your connection and update you when they've finished testing.
If you are able to connect to your test socket at all it would be worth it to help rule any internal issues out.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

One extra thing to note now is that the lag on the gaming console is really starting to become quite an issue. Breaking up when having conversations with people, pretty much unplayable when using multiplayer on any game. When i do a speedtest, the speeds are fine up and down and the ping is low, but the quality of it is horrid.
OK: final edit lol After further investigation it is only the Xbox that is suffering from the lag HOWEVER it is ALL devices (Laptops, Phones, Deskptop PC, Xbox and Kindle Fire's) that are subject to the complete drop out of all internet connection.
When it comes to the internet as a whole, the speeds are fine up down and with ping and jitter etc and the thing that confuses me the most when it comes to the Xbox is that i can stream with netflix and sky player etc BUT in xbox Live Partys chat is distorted and undecipherable and online play is too laggy to play and i physically can't download the update for Black Ops 2 meaning i can;t even load the game at all. It makes no sense how it's only a certain couple of things are affected and others aren't on the same device.
Like i say though, and as the graph in the first initial reply shows, the connection as a whole has jus cut up 3+ times a day for the past week minimum.
I genuinly don't understand what's going on haha
This is the average speed test we get, pretty normal.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

It's making NO sense. The graph you posted showed that the connection was fine on the Sunday of last week, and again this week yesterday, it didn't drop out at all and there was no lag on console from 2pm onwards what so ever. Wake up today, internet cuts out and the lag is unbearable. It genuinly makes no sense. No word from the support team yet.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

Are you able to try an microfilter and/or router?
The drops where your internet light was red but you still had connectivity will not show on the graphs as you were still connected.
If you check your ticket this afternoon is will have been updated for you.

Re: Complete drop outs and lag in between

We already use a micro filter and router. We got an email this morning saying that we need to have an engineer come out and need to get back in touch to arrange time slots etc, and then a second email a couple of hours later informing us that Interleaving is being turned back on. Can i arrange engineer time slots with you here or will i have to ring your support line to do it?
