You're welcome. I voted after chilly announced the result but it's the thought that counts.

Congratulations Jim.  An excellent result.
I hope that the two were not successful will seriously consider trying again in the next round of elections, both were strong candidates.

Re: Community Forum Moderator Elections - The voting process

Why not make them all moderators? There is apparently a need for moderators and these are the only guys who have stepped up to the plate and been judged suitable to be moderators.
If they aren't suitable then why run an election. If they are suitable then why bother with more elections and leave the moderating team short?

Re: Community Forum Moderator Elections - The voting process

I think it actually makes sense for there to be one sucessful candidate at the same time.  Jim will now have the undivided support of all of the existing moderators, which might not have been the case if there was a batch of new recruits.
Personally I'm happier with a single person coming onboard at the same time.

At the same time as what?
Is there an intensive training course or something? It's only moderating forums. What's the big deal? As forums go these ones are slow and small-fry. They have a very basic technical level too.
I think you just like the idea of popularity polls for the sake of them.

You might be right geewizz but it's our forum and it matters to us that it is moderated correctly and also well run.
The 'popularity poll' comment probably has a grain of truth too but that's the case with any democratic election and oldjim has been a very useful member of our forum so deserves his win. Personally, I appreciate having a say in who moderates but I would have liked them all to be moderators as each one has contributed most ably in the past.

Grin Chill out guys.
You're all welcome to your opinions too AND you can ask questions. That's how discussions traditionally work.
