Can anyone with some technical knowledge say if it's possible to telnet or ssh? into said router on port 7547 and turn off remote management. Something is clearly listening within the router on this port which is open to the external Internet for all if the password and username were known.
Fixed! Go to the fix.

I believe that's the port for TR069 (automated setup) and as far as I'm aware there isn't a specific way to turn this off on the router. If you can forward the port to a non-existent IP on the internal network that should alleviate any concern.

There doesn't seem to be an option to select an ip address, only redirect the port.
I've added port 7547 which has changed from being open to closed but not stealthed according to grc.com

Perhaps you'll have to forward port 7547 to a machine that is on, and have that machine's firewall drop any packets arriving on that port.

Works up to a point. If port 7547 is forwarded to a machine that is on then all is well; for all devices connected.
If, however, said machine is off the others aren't protected.
The router doesn't seem to allow the same rule for more than one connected device at a time. Unless I'm corrected.

Problem solved. I've reverted back to an old router that allows remote management to be deactivated. No port visible on the external Internet.
