Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

I'll try to get these stats, its bizzare though, it hasn't disconnected since then ? so I'm 12 hours on without a drop ?
There still nothing plugged in apart from the phone and router on the master switch.

Router stats at this time now are. this was taken just after it sync'd up a second ago. I'll get the stats engine running against it now to see if there is a pattern.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

I've gone back to the test socket, I was in the master socket but not the actual test socket. So I've gone back to it to rule out this changed being the issue.
I'm on sync loss number 28 at the moment  Cheesy my speed hasn't dropped but I still wonder about my profile vs line speed. I'm getting 2.48mbps on speedtest.net but my modem is syncing up at 5800kbps ?
fingers crossed that the test socket might help the situation.
Can anyone enlighten me regarding BT responsibilities for faults around the master socket ?
Here are the graphing results from router stats re: noise and speed.

Sync drops appear to have stopped for the time being will update over the course of the next 24 hours.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

Picture of master socket - would I be right in assuming the blue and white wires leading into the dangling face plate are likley to eminate from the extension and therefore could possibly have been a factor whilst I was plugged into the master socket rather than the test in the last 24 hours ?

Re:Close to resolution i think but need advice

Hi Lenagh,
They are indeed extension wires, if there's any problems with the wiring it may well be adding interference and causing sync drops. You could try disconnecting them then putting the faceplate back to be sure?

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

Thanks bud Smiley I'll leave it in the test socket for 24 hours to be sure theres nothing else in the equation - but i think thats the issue with it as you say must still be causing inteference even though its an empty extension.
Sheesh blinkin wiring !  Cheesy

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

I wouldn't disconnect them just yet!
Do you use the extension normally? If so an i-plate may be a solution.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

Well thing is jelv if you remember I mentioned that orginally what lead me to the wiring was the phone going dead on the extension which the router was also plugged into originally. Those wires will be connecting to said extension.
I've had the faceplate off the extension and re-wired / tapped it but no joy still dead, so I've assumed that this must be the cause of the interferance on the mast socket plug. I was planning on running new cabling for the extension once I can 100% say that the connection is fine in the test socket.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

If you could post photos that show the wires connecting to the back of the master socket faceplate and the inside of the extension so that we can see which wires go to which connection  I'm sure Alex Bell (a.k.a. Anotherone) would tell you if it's wired correctly.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

Morning mate Smiley heres a piccy of the wiring in the extension socket.
I've noticed another socket as well so I'll need to check its wiring also  as I'm assuming they are all terminating at the master but with only one pair of wires in I'd have to guess they are daisy chained ?  Huh

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

They probably are daisy chained (unless there's a connection box hidden away somewhere). If you could post pictures of the wiring inside those as well please.

Re: Close to resolution i think but need advice

There's some information here that you may find useful - especially about the bell (ring) wire.
I don't like the fact that you have four wires connected to the back of the master.
Hopefully Chris (Anotherone) will be around sometime today - he's the expert on this (hence the nickname (Alex Bell) given to him by ASBO).
