Changing broadband connection to a new computer with plusnet

I have a touch speed usb modem on my old PC wwhich does not have a network socket. I am trying to connect my new notebook(Vista) to a netgear 4 port router and want this as the main PC on-line, the old (XP) one as a second PC I have a USB adapter for the old PC. I have searched through all the broadband/ wireless advice and have not been able to connect can anyone advise?

Get hold of a PCI network card for the old PC - you should be able to get one for a few pounds if you can't find someone with one gathering dust that they will give you.
